DACRC co-ordinated the ‘Dialogues with Graffiti for 21st Century Cities (or ‘Graffiti Dialogues’) Network’ to investigate and share diverse experiences of graffiti within and across communities, as well as to identify contextual, cultural and resource efficient responses to graffiti. Three workshops were delivered to create a forum to share insights and encourage discussion and debate around the innovation of new responses to the criminal and creative practices of graffiti.
The project galvanised a diverse network from both crime prevention and city regeneration strategies that formed a community of interest relating to graffiti. The network consisted of authorities and dutyholders of the urban environment, crime prevention experts, material science practitioners, community engagement specialists, academics, artists, creative practitioners and community ‘champions’.
